World Wide Smile

About our Village's theme

Have you ever thought about how amazing it is, that when you turn on your computer, you are connected to the whole world? Our entire globe is spun in a web of wires. They make you able to learn about, talk to, and become friends with any part of the world. It is amazing, if you think about it. We call it the Internet, or the World Wide Web. Computer techies created that. This summer, we will all meet and try to create a World Wide Smile!

Smiling is the easiest thing to do. Think about something super nice, or shout out a funny word! It’s that easy. But a smile is many things. Maybe you wouldn’t smile and be happy if you got water and bread for your birthday, while a boy in Africa might be smiling for weeks if he got just that. And sometimes we smile without having reason to, like when we get an ugly present or when you are a little ashamed of something.

Most times though, smiling is something you do because you’re happy. And if you think about it, smiling gives you energy. If you have a good laugh, everything you do after is much easier. Also, a smile can be infectious. Try smiling at your mom and dad for no reason and see if they don’t smile back at you. Smiles and happiness spread from face to face, and sometimes from country to country. This summer, we will start with ourselves, and build a World Wide Smile in our own little World, the village, where we'll share tons of fun, a million smiles and four weeks of our lives.
